Ibrahim Suffiyan, the Class Governor of English department part 4 has throw his weight behind the appointment of Professor Ayobami Salami as the new Vice Chancellor of OAU.
Suffiyan said all the current agitation stating that the appointment of Professor Salami is illegal is a mere that will end in vain. “The fact is they have declared the next Vice Chancellor and no amount of shouting will work. This is OAU where all major protests against the Management is nothing but a waste of time. If they like, let NASU and SSANU keep protesting along with the Students Union, the bitter truth is they will remain as underdogs. It has already been strategized from the top. All these agitations of NASU will lead us to nothing but pre-semester break or endless strikes that will cause serious delay. We need to pray to God that the next VC should be one that will listen attentively to the voice of students.
Suffiyan further stated that he solidarise with everyone but the truth is Omole can’t just be defeated. He knows the outcome and he wouldn’t close his eye. He must have fought really hard for Professor Salami’s appointment to become a dream come true provided he agrees to let the criminal activities of his predecessor lay low in the graveyard.
However, Suffiya’s classmate, Grateful Emeritus sees it from another angle. “The current agitation is not just about NASU but the correctness of the process of the appointment and the democratization process which is flawed.
The VC race reached it climax today as a federal high court sitting in Osogbo postponed the court proceeding meant for the hearing suit of NASU while the OAU management allegedly deny appointing a new Vice Chancellor.
