The publicity secretary of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Akure, Ondo State, Kennedy Ikantu Peteri, has responded to the State Deputy Governor, Ajayi Agboola’s resignation from the party.
The resignation which came at the early hours of today through an online publication was later confirmed by the secretary through his media adviser, Allen Sowore, was welcomed with stains from the People’s Democratic Party.
“Agboola’s exit from the PDP has no effect on our prospects of victory in Guber elections”
Peteri said: “He has abused the welcome and privilege accorded him by our party supporters during his brief stay in the party. He has also proved that he is desperate to become Governor of Ondo State, in days to come it will dawn on him that, he has squandered whatever was remaining in his goodwill with his decision.”
He added that the PDP will remain solid, strong, and more determined than ever before to win the forthcoming Governorship election with a credible and competent candidate in the person of Eyitayo Jegede, SAN.
The chairman of the People’s Democratic Party in Apoi, ward II of Ese-Odo local Government area, Festus Oboro, acknowledged the receipt of the resignation of the Ondo State Deputy Governor on the 9th August 2020.
In his personal Twitter handle, Ajayi Agboola tweeted that: “Today, 10th August 2020, I resign my membership from the People’s Democratic Party to join Zenith Labour Party to further my aspiration.”
Speculation of his planned movement was put to rest in a statement issued by his media adviser, Allen Sowore, in Akure, the state capital.
The statement confirmed that Ajayi had turned in his letter of resignation to the party on which platform he contested for the Governorship primaries but lost.
According to him, “This decision to resign is as a result of the call on the Deputy Governor by a majority of the good people of Ondo state to give hope to the hopeless, provide credible and purposeful leadership in our dear state,” Sowore said.
