Naija Green Card Fights 39 Million Jobs Deficit To Mark 60th Independence

The Naija Green Card (NGC) has announced the launch of Project 60:60:60 to mark the 60th anniversary of Nigeria’s Independence and fight the mass job deficit caused by COVID-19.

The project is promised to empower 60 prospective entrepreneurs across the six geopolitical zones of the country with funds to kick start their business.

The revelation was contained in a statement by the chairman of NGC, Bimbo Daramola. He said, “Project 60:60:60 is a National Visioning Initiative to signpost the milestone of 60 by Nigeria.”

The chairman averred that the project is to fight against the challenge of mass unemployment befalling the nation due to COVID-19.

He said in his word, “Today the greatest challenge our nation and people face is the bludgeoning incidence of underemployment, unemployment and joblessness, at the dawn of the 60th anniversary, the nation is heading for recession with 39.4 million jobs under threat, made worse by the yet to abate raging covid19 pandemic.”

“This is what has informed the initiative code-named project 60:60:60 as a complementary private sector driven effort to make the next decades, one to make the raising of new entrepreneur a permanent activity”

Hon. Daramola explains that 60 youth with workable ideas and skills will qualify for the benefits. He said, “This vision starts this year as part of our 60th Independence Anniversary with the selection of 60 young people with workable creative ideas, skills, vision from the six geopolitical zones”

He continued, “The successful ones will attend the 60th independence anniversary entrepreneur boot camp and thereafter will be given startup capital to take off under guided application of the funds and operational supervision.”

The Naija Green Card was initiated by Hon. Bimbo Daramola, for the Nigerian Students, Youth Corp members and young people between the ages of 18-35.

According to press reports, the NGC has been alleviating the effects of economic recession and cushioning economic status since it was launched four years ago. Holders of the card have been said to benefit from discounts in various percentages, some up to 70 per cent on goods and services from merchants on the card’s platform.

In an interview with the press, the chairman said, NGC enjoys endorsement by political leaders and rulers like the Governor of Sokoto State, Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, and the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi.
