It will be recalled that the issue of Post-UTME screening payment was critically discussed in a meeting involving the Hon. Minister of Education, SSAP on Youth & Student Matters, NANS President and it was resolved to be prohibited which even led to the constitution of a 5-Man Committee by NANS President to look into/address the refund of those students that falls into such category and that has already paid such flagitious fee.
Abruptionally, the issue was reversed and was reported on national dailies that the payment is hereby pegged at #2, 500, while it becomes so obfuscating to Nigerian students as to what is actually the stands of Education Minister and the Nigeria government, an aspirant of the Public Relations Officer of National Association of Nigerian Students has come out to say that the Post UTME policy is a fraud and should be condemned by all.
Comrade Lawal Muhideen (A’Pound), who is a student of Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye made his stand known in an interactive session with our correspondent.
Comrade Muhideen was of the opinion that the steps taken by the federal government of Nigeria should be condemned by all stakeholders in the education sector because it is barbaric and it’s an height of velleity.
He therefore charged the federal government to as a matter of needful, encourage the youths who are eager to acquiring education by giving more priorities to academic excellence through Quantitative, Qualitative and Affordable education as it is the bedrock of national development and the surest panacea of attaining vision 20-20-20.
He further continued that by this approach, Nigeria communities will witness Peace and Harmony within itselves without any rancour of ethnicity/religious bigotry while it will equally discourage the teeming agile youths from engaging themselves in any dishonorable act that may soil the name of their families but instead represent the society well.
